Our verdict
Axos ONE is a savings and checking bundle built for people who are ready to move their everyday banking. When your Axos ONE checking account meets the monthly rules, savings earns up to 4.21% APY, the highest top rate on our list. You also get fee free checking, early payday and access to 95,000+ fee free ATMs.
The rate depends on those rules. In any cycle where the checking account misses them, savings earns a base rate of up to 1.00% APY. That is why Axos ONE ranks below Peak Bank in our ranking, even though its headline rate is higher.
How the rate works
Axos lists two savings tiers when you meet the requirements, accurate as of Oct 27, 2026:
- Up to 4.21% APY on balances from $0 to $249,999.99
- 3.50% APY on balances of $250,000 and up
To get those rates, your Axos ONE Checking account must meet one of these options during the monthly qualification period:
| Option | Monthly deposits into checking | Average daily balance in checking |
|---|---|---|
| Option 1 | Qualifying direct deposits of at least $1,500 | At least $1,500 |
| Option 2 | Qualifying deposits of at least $5,000 | At least $5,000 |
If you meet them, checking also earns 0.51% APY for that cycle. If you do not, checking earns 0.00% APY and savings earns a base rate of up to 1.00% APY.
What $10,000 earns: about $421 in a year if you meet the rules every month, compared with about $100 at the base rate. The difference is the whole case for Axos ONE, so be honest about whether your paycheck and balance will clear the bar each month.
Fees and minimums
Axos says Axos ONE has no monthly maintenance, minimum balance, opening or overdraft fees. There is no minimum balance to earn interest, though the checking balance rules above decide which rate you get.
Access to your money
This is where Axos ONE stands out from the online only savings accounts on our list. Because it comes with a checking account, you get a debit card, bill pay and access to 95,000+ fee free ATMs. With direct deposit, Axos says you can get paid up to two days early.
Is Axos Bank safe?
